What a week this has been, the snow arrived on Wednesday morning in full force and most families had sent their children off to school as usual.

We had a telephone call around midday from our school bus service, just a quick message to let us know that they would not be picking up our child and bringing him home due to the heavy snow.

Fine we said, we were allright as our son had fallen badly the day before, so was off school, but what about all those parents whose children were in school? How would you get your child home...

I had gone out to Vire before the snow had really begun, a trip of only half an hour, it took me over two and a half hours to get home because the roads were virtually impassable due to  the snow and many lorries and vans that were stuck. I made it back home but only just...  I would never have then been able to manage the run to our son's school, which is 12kms from our home.

I wonder if the school let the children stay over until the weather was better... we were snowed in for three days,  I would love to hear your stories and how you managed.
